...And Noone Came

There were no trickers nor treaters yet again at the Greene Mansion, or as the children of the town called "The Witches Watchtower...."
Each year, Old Lady Mary Greene (aka Mary, Mary, all hairy and scary as she were to the taunting kids) would adorn her yard with festive icons, mostly her prized pumpkins that she grew each year, in hopes that she'd eventually attract the youngsters to enjoy their costumes and share the apples that they were all very sure must be poisonous. She's watch excitedly as dressed up tots walked up and down the street, not leaving her window, hoping just one would rap anxiously upon her door begging for a trick or a treat. Naturally she'd give a treat if they came. And they'd run back and tell their friends how wrong they were! They'd be happy to come each year for Halloween! They'd want to visit everyday and share tea and cookies with her!
Instead, each child walked by the home of Mary Greene, occasionally protruding out an ugly tongue in her direction and running away quickly as they laughed. It was another typical Halloween at the Greene Mansion.
.....and noone came.
